For many, interior design is a mere orchestration of furniture and color palettes. But if you delve deeper, it’s a soulful translation of one’s essence into a living space. And when we talk about such heartfelt transformation in Scottsdale’s interior design community, Emmy’s name shines the brightest.

Meet Emily ‘Emmy’ Marek

Scottsdale's interior design guru, emmy merrick

By 2016, she crystallized her experience and fervor into the establishment of Emmy Couture Designs. Today, she’s not just another name in the
industry; she’s the name.

Emmy’s journey from a childhood surrounded by her mother’s home makeovers, to working at Kirkland’s home store, to finally diving into interior design full-time speaks volumes about the influences that shape our futures. These early exposures honed her distinct design aesthetic, making her the renowned designer she is today.

The Signature Emmy Couture Approach

What’s truly captivating about Emmy’s design process is its deep-rooted connection with fashion. To her, fashion and interior design are two reflections of the same aesthetic spirit. This philosophy, combined with her innate talent to resonate with her clients’ personalities, ensures each space she crafts is both unique and deeply personal.

Your journey with Emmy Couture Designs initiates with a thorough questionnaire, progressing to on-site meetings to grasp the intricacies of your lifestyle and preferences. Then, through collaborative mood boards and detailed planning, Emmy meticulously brings each room to life.

Her background in architectural firms gifts her the capability to infuse architectural genius into her designs, bridging the gap between functionality and aesthetics. Clients often find solace in her multifaceted approach, especially when she fluently converses with contractors, ensuring every detail is executed perfectly.

The Art of Furnishing

For Emmy, a home’s essence is captured not just by its layout but by the unique furnishings that populate it. Leveraging her extensive network, she procures singular pieces, often journeying to places like High Point, North Carolina, to remain at the forefront of furniture trends.

A National Footprint

While Scottsdale is Emmy’s primary canvas, her designs have beautified homes from Florida to Newport Beach. Managing these nationwide projects, especially in the remote-work era, was made possible by her senior designer, Andrea, based in Wisconsin. With aspirations to further expand, especially in the Midwest, Emmy’s ambition knows no
bounds.

Crafting Stories, Not Just Spaces

Each Emmy-designed space is a narrative, a reflection of its inhabitants, intertwined with the ambiance of its location. Whether it’s the desert charm of Scottsdale or the breezy allure of a Florida beachfront, Emmy crafts each design to resonate with its surroundings.

Having called Scottsdale home since 1999, Emmy’s love for the city runs deep. Its eclectic blend of urban vibes set against serene nature offers her perpetual inspiration, reminiscent of her fond memories from St. Louis.

Protégé Footwear: From Heels to Comfort With Candice Chen

Candice Chen, owner of Protégé Footwear

I recently had the distinct pleasure of diving deep into the bustling heart of Scottsdale, Arizona. Among the myriad of unique offerings the city is teeming with, one gem caught my eye – or should I say, my feet? Candice Chen, the genius behind Protégé Footwear, might have cracked the age-old code of merging fashion with comfort in high heels. Yep, you read that right!

Golf Courses to Runways: Candice’s Unexpected Pivot

I was fascinated to learn about Candice’s transition from designing for golf apparel to revolutionizing the world of high heels. Who would’ve thought? A networking event turned out to be the catalyst. After a night in heels, Candice’s discomfort pushed her to study and innovate heel designs. And boy, the discoveries she made about even some high-end brands were startling!

Heels with a Purpose: The Protégé Approach

Candice’s heels are far from the usual. She’s combined her engineering background with the intricacies of foot anatomy to craft shoes that are as comfortable as they are stylish. Forget the usual compressed cardboard; think triple-layer foot padding, shock-absorbing gel foam, and memory foam. She’s on a mission to banish ailments like Newton’s neuroma from the lives of high heel enthusiasts.

I believe in celebrating pioneers like Candice. While many in the fashion world have maintained a status quo, Candice’s Protégé Footwear is disrupting the space, proving that fashion and function can coexist harmoniously.

Inside the Design Room: My Chat with Candice

During our conversation, I delved into Candice’s inspirations. Candice shared her love for heels and the desire to seamlessly blend style with comfort. She passionately walked me through her unique stiletto design, the versatility in her footwear range, and even a sneak peek into their upcoming boots. I was genuinely impressed by how her engineering mind influenced these fantastic designs. As she wrapped up, she reflected on her time in Scottsdale, and how it has influenced her preferences and observations.

On The Horizon: Scottsdale’s Stylish Future

The quest for the perfect heel might just be over, thanks to Candice. Protégé Footwear isn’t just about shoes; it’s a brand that understands and addresses women’s needs. If you’re as intrigued as I was, check out Candice’s feature in the Scottsdale City Lifestyle’s style issue, or head over to YouTube for an in-depth view into her venture.

Gateway Academy: Shaping the Future of Children With Autism

Scottsdale, often celebrated for its vibrant culture and stunning locales, has a unique gem nestled within its bounds – Gateway Academy.https://gatewayacademy.us/ This institution isn’t just any school; it’s a beacon of hope for high-functioning autistic children and their families.

Gateway Academy Seeking Balance

Founded by the indomitable Robin Sweet, Gateway Academy fills a void that many families face in the education system. While children with high-functioning autism are intellectually brilliant, they often grapple with social, emotional, and sensory challenges. Schools that cater to children with learning disabilities don’t always cater to
these unique needs. This gap is what prompted Robin, whose son also falls under this category, to venture into the educational sector, giving these children a place where they truly belong.

An Evolutionary Journey

When Robin first moved to Scottsdale, she hoped to find a school suited to the needs of children with Asperger’s syndrome. But the options available mainly addressed more general learning disabilities like dyslexia or behavioral issues. Disheartened but undeterred, Robin decided to create what she couldn’t find.

Today, Gateway Academy specifically caters to students from grades six to twelve. Initially, the academy had an expansive grade range starting from kindergarten. However, younger students required a different kind of individual attention. With the academy’s commitment to providing only the best, they narrowed their focus to grades where
they could truly excel.

More Than Just Education

What sets Gateway Academy apart isn’t just its targeted educational curriculum. The academy recognizes the profound intelligence of its students. Discussions can rapidly evolve from general topics to deep dives into subjects like physics, driven by the students’ diverse passions.

Teachers at the academy are equipped to nurture these passions, even if they change week by week. The curriculum is dynamic, molded around the ever-evolving interests of the students. This method not only keeps the learning process intriguing but also ensures that students remain engaged and excited about education.

Anthony Terrell, the Director of Education at Gateway, resonates with the mission deeply. Having grown up with a brother on the spectrum, Anthony has firsthand experience of the challenges and joys. This personal connection drives him and the rest of the team to offer an environment where students can thrive both academically and
personally.

Lessons Beyond The Classroom

While Gateway Academy is designed for children with high-functioning autism, it offers lessons that everyone can embrace. Anthony highlights a simple but powerful practice: taking a break. Whether it’s a bad day or a challenging task, sometimes stepping away for a few moments can change the perspective and outcome. It’s not about
giving up but allowing oneself the space to regroup and return stronger.

A Future Full of Possibilities

Gateway Academy isn’t just about imparting knowledge. The goal is to prepare its students for life beyond school. Whether it’s pursuing higher education, embarking on a career, or building personal relationships, the academy aims to equip its students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the outside world.

As the conversation around autism becomes more widespread, institutions like Gateway Academy remind us of the importance of specialized education. Every child, regardless of their needs, deserves an environment where they can flourish. With its dedicated team and innovative approach, Gateway Academy is undoubtedly leading the way.

We work closely with parents to ensure that they have all the necessary information and support to apply for the ESA scholarship. Our goal is to ensure that financial constraints don’t become a barrier to a child’s education, especially when they require specialized attention and care.

In terms of transportation, we recognize the challenges many parents face, especially those who live farther away from the school. We’re constantly exploring options and partnering with transportation services to make it feasible for parents. We have a number of parents who carpool, which has been beneficial for many.

The Most Important Message

The main message we want to get across is that we’re here to support not just the students, but also their families. We’re in this together, and we’ll do whatever it takes to ensure our students receive the education they deserve.

Lastly, I want to emphasize the community aspect of Gateway Academy. From parent support groups to collaborative community projects, we believe in the power of unity and working together. It’s not just about academics; it’s about shaping well-rounded, confident, and capable individuals who can thrive in the real world. And we’re committed to that mission, every step of the way.

Scottsdale’s Real Estate Market and The Art of Balanced Living

courtney fox yoga

On this week’s podcast episode, I had the privilege of chatting with seasoned real estate agent Shawn Shackleton, touching on Scottsdale’s real estate intricacies, and the dynamics of buyer behavior. Then I got to talk with the ever-inspirational yoga instructor Courtney Fox talking about how yoga can keep you balanced through all life throws
at you.

The Unpredictable World of Interest Rates

Oh, interest rates—everybody’s favorite topic, right? In Scottsdale, it seems like they’re the unsung hero (or villain) in every real estate story. Shawn pointed out that while the rates hover around 7%, it’s not the same for every aspiring homeowner. Your credit score and debt-to-income ratio can make all the difference. And before you ask, no, the experts like Barbara Corcoran don’t think home prices are going down anytime soon—maybe leveling off if we’re lucky.

Supply, Demand, and The New Construction Wave

Despite those high rates, y’all, people are still clamoring for quality homes. Shawn emphasized that properties in hot spots often receive multiple offers, sometimes exceeding the listing price. And for those of you stuck between choosing a resale or new construction home, here’s a tidbit: new constructions have been steadily outpacing
resales. So builders are clearly having a heyday. There’s something about that new home smell, isn’t there?

Debunking Myths: No, Scottsdale Isn’t a Foreclosure Haven

Shawn was quick to dismantle the myth about Scottsdale teeming with foreclosures. Mortgage delinquencies are at an all-time low since the ’80s, making the 2008 housing crisis comparisons moot. So, for now, stability seems to be the keyword.

Seasonal Changes and Buyer Behavior

Being patient is great advice for life and particularly for navigating Scottsdale’s real estate market. Shawn noted that the market has been following its typical seasonal ebbs and flows. So, don’t lose hope; your perfect home is out there somewhere!

The Shawn Shackleton Difference

What sets Shawn apart isn’t just her decades of experience, it’s her ability to really “get” what you’re looking for. She’s not just any realtor; she’s your real estate guardian angel. So, if you’re serious about home-hunting, give her a call at 480-734-7277 or pop into The Shackleton Group.

Balancing It Out With Yoga and Courtney Fox

Switching gears a bit, let’s talk about the balance in life. My conversation with yoga instructor Courtney Fox was nothing short of enlightening. Courtney left the corporate world in 2015, and it’s been a whirlwind of mindfulness, meditation, and some incredibly flexible poses since. Her holistic approach to yoga is not just about physicality; it’s about enriching your life and your interactions with the community. She’s got the credentials and the hours logged in to back it up.

Mindfulness Off the Mat

And it’s not just yoga poses. Courtney emphasized the role of mindfulness in everyday life, whether it’s taking a pause to appreciate your meal or engaging deeply in conversations. She even passionately talked about her husband’s food truck venture, “From the Wildfire,” adding yet another layer of balance to her life.

The Scottsdale Community Vibe

Courtney adores Scottsdale, and I can see why. Our local community vibe is a mesh of outdoor brunches, yoga, and, of course, real estate. Scottsdale seems to be the nexus where wellness, community, and investment collide. Courtney’s favorite part? The brunches, especially those with a wellness twist. Hey, who can blame her?

In Summary

Whether it’s navigating Scottsdale’s ever-changing real estate market or achieving a more balanced life through yoga, the advice and perspectives of experts like Sean Shackleton and Courtney Fox are invaluable. So, if you’re pondering when to make your next move—literally or metaphorically—remember that knowledge and balance are your best allies.

The Heartbeat of Scottsdale: A Personal Reflection on Our Local Businesses

Hidden amidst the desert charm of Scottsdale, Arizona, is a thriving
haven for small business owners. Stroll along the bustling streets and
you’ll discover quaint coffee shops, state-of-the-art dentistry
clinics, and everything in between. Indeed, Scottsdale’s identity as a
bustling entrepreneurial hub is growing, and I’m here to give you a
glimpse into this remarkable ecosystem.

When I decided to delve deeper into the heartbeat of our city’s businesses, I was fortunate to have Jeremy Mueller of State Farm Insurance and Dr. Rob DiVito of Arizona Central for Laser Dentistry share their stories. What struck me was the unanimity in their experiences: both attributed their success to Scottsdale’s robust economy, the immense support from the community, and the relentless passion that its residents exude.

Small Business Challenges

Every small business owner knows the mountains that stand between an idea and its realization. Dr. Rob touched on these challenges, emphasizing that while starting a business is daunting, Scottsdale’s unique support system ensures entrepreneurs never face these trials alone. I remember during the challenging period of the COVID downturn, the Scottsdale economics bureau extended a lifeline to many small businesses, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of our community.

But success in Scottsdale isn’t just about profit margins. As Jeremy astutely noted, it’s akin to raising a child – the effort is immense, but the real reward is in the relationships built, the community served, and the tangible impact made. Dr. Rob further highlighted the power of genuine interactions, pointing out that in a world so digitally connected, the magic of face-to-face encounters still holds its ground.

Scottsdale’s Economic Forum

Navigating the Scottsdale business landscape, one can’t help but recognize the role of the Scottsdale Economic Forum. Josh Utterback, representing the forum, shared the multitude of services they offer. From business consulting to networking events, this forum has firmly positioned itself as the backbone of Scottsdale’s economic success.

Choose Scottsdale

In our conversation, Josh introduced me to “Choose Scottsdale,” an initiative committed to showcasing Scottsdale as a prime business destination. Through programs like the Business Assistance Program and the Partnership Program, they’ve created a harmony between businesses, local talent, and resources. Their success stories, like that of a local tech startup that expanded manifold with their support, exemplify the difference such programs make.

To anyone contemplating starting or expanding their business in Scottsdale, Josh had a message: “Scottsdale is more than a tourist hotspot; it’s a goldmine of innovation, talent, and unmatched opportunities.” With the guidance of initiatives like Choose Scottsdale, the journey for entrepreneurs becomes significantly smoother.

As I wrap up, I’d like to echo the sentiments of our interviewees and the countless entrepreneurs who call Scottsdale home. Our city isn’t just about the picturesque landscapes or the bustling markets; it’s about the people, the community spirit, and the relentless drive towards innovation and growth. If you’re an entrepreneur, there’s no
better time to be in Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Police Department: Insights and Community Connections

Scottsdale Police department

On this week’s episode we’re embarking on an exciting journey that promises to deepen our understanding of a crucial community institution – the Scottsdale Police Department (SPD). But before we dive in, I’ve got some exciting news to share with you all. The Scottsdale City Lifestyle has joined hands with Scottsdale Vibes, creating a duo that’ll elevate your Scottsdale experience to new heights. For all the latest on our incredible city, be sure to grab the newest issue – your gateway to all things Scottsdale.

Unveiling the Voices Behind the Badge

I was thrilled to have two phenomenal officers from the Foothills District of the Scottsdale Police Department on the podcast this week. These officers are the driving force behind the department’s community outreach endeavors, creating bridges between law enforcement and our beloved residents. Let’s meet the outstanding guests who will be gracing our conversation today:

Officer Robert Kazteroff

Officer Kazteroff is no stranger to the intricacies of community engagement. His wealth of experience and unwavering dedication shine through as he paints a vivid picture of Commanding Officer Chris Watson’s authenticity and dedication to his community. Officer Kazteroff sets the stage for an enlightening dialogue that promises both depth and authenticity.

Commander Chris Watson

Commander Watson’s journey within the Scottsdale Police Department began way back in 2005, and since then, he’s traversed various roles that have shaped him into the remarkable leader he is today. His background as a Marine and his academic achievements have undoubtedly played a significant role in his leadership philosophy. Now, as a commanding officer, his commitment to the community radiates like a beacon of hope, inspiring officers and residents alike.

Fostering Strong Community Bonds

But let’s get to the heart of our conversation. Commander Watson brings a fresh perspective to his new role within the Foothills District – an emphasis on community engagement. He’s eager to open lines of communication, embrace diverse perspectives, and form meaningful connections that weave together the rich tapestry of our city. This approach aligns beautifully with his vision of dismantling the traditional law enforcement narrative and paving the way for a safer and more interconnected environment. And as Officer Kazteroff rightfully points out, this partnership between law enforcement and the community is an indispensable ingredient in the recipe for creating a secure and vibrant city.

Commander Watson’s Reflective Insights

Taking a step back, Commander Watson takes us on a journey through his career, reflecting on the pivotal moments that have shaped him. From his early days as a rookie officer, brimming with excitement and determination, to the challenges of making impactful decisions, his story paints a vivid picture of his growth as both an officer and a leader. What emerges is a profound understanding of the need for compassion and education, a realization honed through years of experiences within the force and as a loving father of seven. These experiences have become his compass, guiding him through the complexities of law enforcement.

Leadership: A Journey of Parallels

As Commander Watson reflects on his experiences, an intriguing parallel comes to light – the overlap between leadership within law enforcement and the realm of parenting. Just like in parenthood, effective policing requires adaptability, empathy, and a keen understanding of dynamics. His ability to navigate both domains with finesse underscores the depth of leadership skills required to steer the intricate ship of community policing.

Confronting Traffic Challenges

In the midst of our conversation, Commander Watson tackles one of the pressing challenges in the Foothills District – traffic management. With Scottsdale’s population on the brink of expansion, the SPD is working hand-in-hand with the city’s traffic engineering team to improve road safety and alleviate congestion. As Commander Watson underscores, promoting kindness, respect, and adherence to traffic rules becomes a collective responsibility shared between officers and residents.

Staying Alert: The “Jugging” Phenomenon

Officer Kazteroff brings a crucial concern to the forefront – the phenomenon of “jugging.” This disturbing crime involves individuals being trailed after withdrawing money from a bank, ultimately leading to vehicle break-ins or, in some cases, forceful robberies. Officer Kazteroff’s advice? Stay vigilant, be aware of your surroundings, and promptly report anything suspicious to ensure your safety and the security of our community.

Strengthening Community Bonds with Youth Programs

Transitioning to a more uplifting note, we delve into the incredible youth programs offered by the Scottsdale Police Department. Among them, the Public Safety Teen Academy and Cadet Academy shine as beacons of inspiration. These initiatives provide an inside look into the world of law enforcement, dispelling misconceptions and fostering a deeper understanding between officers and the youth of our city.

Commander Watson’s Personal Connection

Commander Watson’s personal connection to the Public Safety Teen Academy adds a layer of authenticity to the program’s significance. This immersive experience offers teenagers a unique chance to explore the realms of law enforcement and firefighting, igniting their interest and curiosity. A testament to the department’s commitment to community involvement, this initiative is offered free of charge, showcasing their dedication to building meaningful connections.

Dispelling Myths Through Connection

As our conversation unfolds, a compelling theme emerges – these youth programs not only educate and engage young minds but also play a pivotal role in dispelling the misconceptions that often surround law enforcement. By providing an up-close view of the department’s activities, these programs bridge the gap between societal perceptions and the reality of their daily work, fostering a new level of understanding.

A Call to Embrace Connection

As our discussion winds down, I extend a heartfelt invitation to all our listeners. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the intricate threads that weave the fabric of the Scottsdale Police Department’s endeavors. While challenges undoubtedly exist, the focus remains on fostering collaboration, transparency, and education within our community. Remember, building stronger bonds is a collective effort that requires a shared commitment to mutual understanding.

Back to School in Scottsdale

It’s that time of year and we’re diving headfirst into the excitement of back to school time in Scottsdale. As a parent, I know how much we all look forward to this time, and we’ll explore the joys, challenges, and opportunities that come with it.

Summer Memories

Back to School in Scottsdale

First things first, can we all agree that the end of summer means we get a little break from constantly being snack providers? I mean, don’t get me wrong, I adore my kids, but their appetites seem never-ending! Joining me on this week’s episode, in this snack-dilemma discussion is Dr. Rob DeVito from Arizona Center for Laser Dentistry, who’s experiencing the same thing with his own children. It’s a snack-stravaganza!

But before we jump into the school year, let’s take a moment to cherish those summer memories. Dr. Rob had an amazing time with his family on a Disney cruise, escaping the Arizona heat. His kids had a blast attending summer camps up north, keeping them active and engaged.

Speaking of summer camps, they are a blessing for working parents like us. The range of activities and opportunities they offer is incredible, giving us peace of mind knowing our kids are safe and having fun while we focus on our work responsibilities. We’re so grateful for the choices available to our children today.

Education in Scottsdale

Now, let’s shift our focus to education in Scottsdale. Both SUSD and PV School Districts deserve applause for providing well-rounded education that goes beyond academics. From music and arts to STEM activities, they offer ample extracurricular options for students to explore their passions.

I love that our school districts are seeking input from parents and students. By considering their opinions, we create an environment where children feel valued and heard, fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere in schools. It’s truly heartwarming to see this level of commitment to our students’ well-being.

Now, I have a treat for you – a special guest on this week’s episode, SUSD Superintendent Dr. Scott Menzel. Tune in to hear about the district’s recent achievements, including the COA accreditation with high scores. It’s exciting to see the focus on continuous improvement and student success in action.

As we move into this new school year, let’s focus on supporting our children’s educational journey for a successful and fulfilling year ahead. Remember, education is not just about academics but also about creating lasting memories and nurturing our children’s passions for a brighter future.

The Rich History of the Little Red Schoolhouse in Scottsdale

We’re going to dive into the fascinating history of the Little Red Schoolhouse, a cherished landmark in Scottsdale, Arizona. I sat down with Eleanor Brierley, a long-time resident and passionate advocate for preserving Scottsdale’s history. Together, uncover the hidden stories and treasures of the past.

Unveiling the Little Red Schoolhouse’s History

The Little Red Schoolhouse, although no longer red, continues to captivate visitors with its remarkable historical significance. Built in 1896, this small schoolhouse served as the educational hub for Scottsdale’s earliest residents. With just 14 students, the school doors opened to a new era of learning. Over time, the student population grew, prompting the construction of a new building nearby. However, the original schoolhouse remained an integral part of our community’s fabric.

From Schoolhouse to Community Hub

Throughout the years, the Little Red Schoolhouse assumed various roles, reflecting the changing needs of Scottsdale. It served as a Sunday school, a church polling place, and even a Red Cross bandage center during wartime. The schoolhouse experienced a resurgence as an educational facility and later housed the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce. Finally, in 1991, the building and its rich history were entrusted to the Scottsdale Historical Society, transforming it into the museum we know today.

Rediscovering the Little Red Schoolhouse

After a brief closure for renovations and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Little Red Schoolhouse reopened its doors to the public. As a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our community in preserving Scottsdale’s heritage, the museum stands proudly, offering visitors a glimpse into the past and a tangible connection to our town’s history.

A Conversation with Eleanor

Joining me today is Eleanor Brierley, a second-generation native of Scottsdale, who will share her insights into our town’s rich history. Growing up amidst a rural and agricultural landscape, Eleanor vividly recalls the early days of Scottsdale. She fondly remembers the small grocery store where patrons would relay their shopping lists to the shopkeepers and the limited number of paved streets and cars in town.

Preserving the Little Red Schoolhouse

Eleanor’s involvement with the Scottsdale Historical Society and the Little Red Schoolhouse stems from her family’s deep roots in the community. The building held great significance for Eleanor’s parents, who attended school there. When the schoolhouse faced possible demolition, Eleanor and other passionate residents rallied together to save this historical treasure.

The Journey to a Historical Museum

Transforming the Little Red Schoolhouse into a museum was a labor of love and a learning process for the Scottsdale Historical Society. We had to navigate the complexities of running a nonprofit organization and establish partnerships with other entities, such as the local library, to effectively preserve and share Scottsdale’s history.

Embracing the Full Spectrum of Scottsdale’s History

As custodians of Scottsdale’s history, the Little Red Schoolhouse and the Scottsdale Historical Society aim to represent the town’s complete timeline. This includes not only the distant past but also more recent decades. We actively seek donations of historical artifacts, documents, and memories from various periods to ensure future generations have a comprehensive understanding of our town’s development and the people who shaped it.

In addition to collecting physical items, we place great value on oral histories. We recognize the importance of capturing personal recollections and firsthand accounts to provide a nuanced perspective on Scottsdale’s history. By conducting interviews and recording narratives, we preserve the memories and experiences of individuals who have witnessed the town’s evolution.

Embracing Technology

To make these historical resources accessible to the public, we prioritize digitization efforts. We understand the significance of embracing technology to expand the reach of our collections beyond physical exhibits. By digitizing photographs, documents, and audio recordings, we create an online repository that allows anyone to explore Scottsdale’s history from anywhere in the world.

Embracing Education

The Little Red Schoolhouse and the Scottsdale Historical Society also play an active role in educational initiatives. We collaborate with local schools, organize workshops, and host events to engage students and the community in learning about Scottsdale’s past. By fostering a sense of connection to the town’s heritage, we hope to instill a greater appreciation for its historical significance among the younger generation.

Furthermore, we actively seek partnerships with other historical societies, museums, and institutions to exchange knowledge and resources. By collaborating with experts in the field, we ensure that our preservation efforts align with best practices and contribute to a broader understanding of history. Through our dedication to collecting, preserving, and sharing Scottsdale’s history, the Little Red Schoolhouse and the Scottsdale Historical Society fulfill our mission of honoring the town’s past and connecting it to the present. By embracing a holistic approach that encompasses all periods, we ensure that Scottsdale’s complete timeline is celebrated and cherished for generations to come.
